Aztem – Christians in the global workplace**

Web: http://www.aztem.org.au   Contact Dr Ian Grant   03 9254 1000

AZTEM’s purpose is to encourage and facilitate Australian Christians with marketable skills, to live and witness for Christ in cross-cultural situations.

“Tentmaker” is often used to describe a Christian who has a secular work identity and lives in a culture other than their own with the purpose of reaching others for Christ. This follows in the tradition of the Apostle Paul and many early missionaries. Professionals can work in many places where traditional missionary work is restricted.

Aztem is a network for tentmakers which
* equips Christians to witness in the global workplace
* mentors and provides accountability
* prays and cares practically for members

Some Christians go alone with their work overseas. We believe that it is far better to have the pre-departure training, on-field advice and mentoring from experienced tentmakers and the prayer and pastoral support which an agency such as Aztem provides.

Many Aztem members serve long-term, some undertake projects for one or two years. Some members serve through shorter visits and assignments. Almost all members are financially supported by their work or their own business. People have served in many countries – in Aftica, Middle East, Asia and the Pacific – and often in countries where the church is small and missionaries cannot enter.

Our members serve in many capacities, including IT specialist, atmospheric scientist, architect, nurse educator, English (ESL) teacher, doctor, university administrator, agriculturalist, various types of engineer, business entrepreneur, road safety consultant, medical scientist, Christian educator. Spouses and children also have a significant role to play.

Aztem is part of a global network of tentmaker agencies, is an Accredited Member of Missions Interlink Australia. It was founded by experienced missionaries and mission theologians and has 27 years of experience.

European Christian Mission is working to bring the hope of Christ to today’s Europeans.

Our priority is to establish new churches in Europe, working in partnership with local evangelical organisations. ECM partners with missionaries, churches and individuals who are spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the nations of this continent.

Our desire is to see new churches established where none currently exist and to encourage them to reproduce contextually appropriate communities of faith that witness to Jesus Christ, embody the gospel and act as an agent of change in society. With this desire in mind we have been active in evangelism, disciple making, integral ministries and training of leaders, always looking for creative and innovative ways to adapt to the local culture and the ever changing society.
In addition, we work hard to make an impact on the lives of the people we come into contact with. We do this through various community-based projects working with drug addicts, learning-disabled children and their families, war-traumatised families, asylum-seekers and refugees.

It is a huge task, but one that we believe is vital, exciting and unavoidable.

Will you join us on this journey into hope?

Faith Academy Philippines is an international Christian school primarily for the children of missionaries serving in Asia. We provide a means for parents to stay in the mission’s field and not return home prematurely for their kids education. Since 1957, we have been committed to equipping students to be Christ-like, life-long learners by providing a dynamic, relevant education.

The school runs from Preschool to High School and has around 520 students. Approximately ten percent of our students live in boarding homes staffed by Faith Academy as their parents serve in missions in various areas of southeast Asia. Our students represent over 20 different countries with approximately half from within Asia. We offer both the British IGCSE curriculum for International students, as well an American curriculum.

In order to keep costs down for missionary families, the school does not pay salaries to staff members. Our faculty and staff are either self-supporting or receive financial support under the guidelines of a mission organization, whereby they raise their own support through fellow believers and churches who want to be a part of their mission support.

Asia remains the least evangelized continent on earth, with more unreached peoples than any other region. We focus on more than 105 people groups in East Asia, representing 90% of East Asia’s 2 billion people. We long to see many workers sent out to East Asia, men and women of faith, all on fire for God and consumed with a passion for His glory and effective in His service.

We work to see biblical communities of believers rising up among unreached people groups in East Asia. We plant churches that have a vision to plant more churches, reaching out to people in their own culture as well as crossing cultures themselves. Our workers develop friendships with local people, serve in churches, learn local language and culture, go as professionals, teachers, church planters, and serve in various supporting roles. If you have the right skills and abilities and a sense of God’s call, we can place you.

How can you help?
Locally: we have various ministries in Australia reaching Asian people groups in Australia. We also need support workers here.
In Aisa: Short, medium and long term opportunities exist from 2 weeks to more than 3 years. Visit our website for all the details.

Reach Beyond is part of a global community committed to reaching unreached people groups with the gospel through the use of dynamic media and high quality programs along with healthcare and community development.

Today, Reach Beyond Australia carries on that vision via its broadcast ministry. Our shortwave facility is uniquely placed in Australia to deliver powerful messages of hope to communities in the Asia Pacific region including many that are remote and isolated. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Servants.Australia/
Opportunities & Vacancies: http://servantsasia.org/get-involved/

The urban poor are the largest and fastest growing unreached people group confronting today’s church.

Our vision is to see the urban poor and their communities transformed by the power of Christ. Our mission is to follow the strategy of Jesus, and we are called to these principles: Incarnation, Simplicity, Servanthood, Community, Wholism.

Servants to Asia’s Urban Poor is an International movement – a network of Christian teams living and working amongst the urban poor in Asia’s mega cities, participating with the poor to bring hope and justice through Jesus Christ. We seek to empower them by forming partnerships and networks, developing disciples and servant leaders, founding and nurturing Christian communities, facilitating community transformation, showing mercy and opposing injustice.

We currently have field teams in Cambodia, the Philippines, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Vancouver and London

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to follow the downward path that Christ took, of incarnation among the urban poor as a member of a supportive team community. God will use every skill, talent and quality that you bring to this position, but first you will need to learn to be a servant in a new context: we must allow God to use your skills to catalyse the transformation that He wants to bring.

Servants will walk with you as you discern and prepare for this great adventure. We have a developed and refined our preparation process to prepare you to serve in an Asian slum or in an inner-city neighbourhood in the West.

Your first year with a field team will be a year of formation and discernment, and while you will build important relationships with others who live in your slum, it will mainly be a year of learning. You?ll be learning language and culture, as well as how to relax and have fun in a chaotic and unfamiliar environment.

Your second and third years on the field are a time to explore future ministry directions. They?re a time of continued learning, but with the focus moving from learning to ?be?, to learning to ?do? in your new context.

Servants is a faith mission and all workers raise their financial support from their local churches and friends. Opportunities to minister amongst the poor are limitless, but perhaps more important than the job skills themselves are the character attributes you bring to the field such as: strong relationship with God, adaptable, humble, teachable, hardy, sacrificial, and confident.

We?d love to take this journey with you.

Wycliffe Bible Translators’ vision is to see everyone have the opportunity to know God through the Scriptures in their heart language.

That might sound like a very worthwhile but intense job for someone with special skills. But don’t be too quick to rule yourself out. People from an incredibly diverse range of backgrounds have found their fit in the world of Bible translation.

From administrators to linguists, mechanics to teachers, IT guys, accountants and everything in between, people have contributed for short or longer term periods in many meaningful ways. So ask us how you might play a part in Bible translation!
