Second Wind Forums

Ways that Second Wind Network can help you to encourage your "second half" members to participate in missions

Many churches have a significant proportion of their congregation in the second half of their lives. Whether only just in their 40s or looking for what to do in their retirement, many are asking if life holds something different now - maybe involvement in missions or missions support. We can work with you to help them explore their options and find their fit locally or globally.

Many local churches want to have a "hands-on" role in their mission involvement through their own initiatives and others work with traditional sending agencies. We aim to complement your existing mission program by running forums, seminars and presentations which encourage second half people to seriously consider missions involvement. We are not a sending organisation but we partner with many agencies and their experienced personnel who work with us to present seminars and electives.

We are able to tailor our presentations to suit your time frame - from a 10 minute presentation in a church service or missions meeting to a full day forum with a missions expo and electives.

We strongly recommend the Second Wind Forums we are able to present. These forums can be run by individual churches or groups of churches at minimal cost. We can tailor make the content and schedule them to suit your church calendar. They are a collaborative effort with mission agencies and include speakers, electives and other content. More...

Please remember that we are an organisation for Australian adult Christians looking into a significant "second half" in God’s Global Plan, not primarily for retirees. However we encourage all fit, healthy adults in the second half of their lives to consider active involvement in missions.

Here's what we can do:

Make a brief presentation in a church service, missions group meeting or preach on a relevant missions topic.

Facilitate an elective or make another presentation at your annual missions event or conference.

Address a "second half" or missions group in your church for 45 minutes, or a longer seminar.

Run a SWN Forum in your church or local area (with a number of co-operating churches or just for your congregation).

Present a "Serving as Senders" or "Stop the World, I want to get on" Seminar for your missions group or sending team.

Consult with you or your Missions Committee.

Assist your members to access information about field opportunities or help them with their individual questions

Facilitate Mission Awareness courses (Kairos or Perspectives) in your church or connect you with co-ordinators running courses in your area.

Help your church take a team to a field of your choice using our contacts with established, reputable, Mission Agencies.

If you can think of any other ways that we could possibly help you, please let us know.
